The Serenity of Water

The thermometer said it was 106 F. and it seemed unbearable to stay outside for more than a few minutes, but when I drove past the new landing on the Wabash River at Bristol Hill, I couldn't help but stop. The water level was at a record low because of the drought, but as I walked down the ramp to the riverbank, I realized that It was still a beautiful place. I sat on a rock and tried to imagine the canoe battle that took place on this spot during The Revolutionary War. Just like the ocean,  the Wabash ( at least at this location) seems timeless. A few minutes later, I was back in my Jeep on the way to work. I felt better. I sent my troubles down stream toward the ocean... and the old man river didn't mind at all.
